Which? Pros/Cons please.. I'm gonna ruthlessly delete any spam outta this thread since it's mine apologies in advance for any posts that'll get removed - no offence meant..
Which will work better in a lightweight (400/500kg) car...
Will a GSXR1000 save enough weight to make it more viable/better than a Hayabusa?
Other things to consider - a Cat for the SVA which models have em.. is it only the K7? which is out of budget... |

Jam, I am hardly mechanically qualified to answer this post but having driven a Smartcar Roadster, which had a 600cc engine in, I'd prolly opt for the Gixxer one as it is lighter. The Smartcar was great, top speed of only 110mph but boy, the acceleration up to 70 or so was nuts! _________________ Mini Cooper S |

You could ask these people Jam ..... http://www.zcars.org.uk/
Given the probably marginal differences in power output in BHP/ton in either engine, I think choice would be down to the relative tuneability of each engine. |

Well we're actually looking at making a caterham (rep) http://www.tigerracing.com/cars/tiger-b6-main.php
or maybe one of these http://www.daxcars.co.uk/rush/reviews/index.htm
rather than getting some beat up old shell
K1/2/3/4 Gixxers are supposedly 160-164bhp.. according to suxukicycles.org the K5 went up to 178bhp! Youch, compared to a Hayabusa 175bhp...
But I'd feel safer putting a turbo (yes it's being discussed) onto a busa engine than a Gixxer which is already fairly tuned...! |

the Atom is a bit too expensive... but the whole idea of this being that we want to build something ourselves.. and have it very motorbike oriented..
.. it's going to have the original Suzuki clocks built into the dash, probably a bike exhaust can (custom made pipes obviously! titanium course.. budget dependant..!) and lots of bike decals etc...
rather than the honda civic (albeit supercharged) engine in the atom...
website/blog will be going up at some point! |

From their website..... Due to some major components used in the Caterham FireBlade becoming difficult to source and changes with the SVA and MOT regulations, the car is no longer in production. |

Shame, that would've been a contender... but the Tiger is essentially a caterham, they suggest the gsxr1000 engine, but we've asked them wether it's easy to fit a 'busa engine in |

take into consideration the torque developed by each engine and where in the rev range...
also the state of tune per engine.
obv a 1000cc putting out 170bhp is going to be a bit more fragile than a 1300cc putting out the same.
or you could be a donut and put a Pan V4 lump in one.... |

I'd still go for a Busa
more tuneable, loads of upgrade kits available ie turbo's etc more reliable engine and even though the BHP figures are similar the Busa produces a shit load more torque then the GSXR1000 _________________ The Stevie Wonder of rideouts!

Mate of mine has a tiger with 2 blade engines in....
I would go for the Busa engine personally - cubes everytime _________________
