Hi all, my names Scott and Ive been going to box hill on and off for the last 4 years. Sounds like the AA doesn't it? Maybe it is.......
I came here from Oz in 2000 to go to the TT and have a holiday and then work for 2 years and go home. 4+ years later I am not going home, have an English girlfriend who is not moving to australia.
I'm addicted to biking and have been since I was 7 years old. Road rider 18-20.Had a break between 20 and 27 and did some trials, at which i was pretty average. Got back into road stuff and havent looked back!
Like bikes with character, whatever the hell that is!

Word up
Welcome to the forum szr660.
Perfomance and handling is top priority for me
As for character, I think I make up for what my bike lacks in that area.

Yes it looks like a great forum, at last people who know what I'm tallking about (I'm mostly on a US based guzzi forum).
Won't be at Box this weekend as I'm off to the V-twin rally in shaftesbury, which should be fun weather permitting.
But when I'm there I'm mostly on the dark red breva..ther ain't many about! Though we did invade Box Hill with Guzzis a few weeks ago.
all the best,

Tinks, it looks like you have a new Fazer?? I was THAT close to going for one of them before I turned to the dark side of italian biking _________________ Scott the Aussie,

She has got the new Fazer, very nice it is too
I nearly went that way, as I love the looks and sound of triples - was going to buy a Laverda Mirage...still I think my Triumph is better now |

Yeah Silverb i really like the triples also, but the trouble is they are all a bit too heavy for my little legs. I was actually hoping that the TT600 would turn out to have been a triple, and then the speed four would be the speed three and that would have been a nice bike. But now I am hooked on the gentle charms of a V-twin shaftie...
The Fazer was definately a possibility as it is just so "do everything" but the seat was a bit high, and I just could not see the need for a bike so complex as all that for me.
Ideally I would like a 75hp Breva! But the new breva 1100, when it comes out, looks like more of a big beemer than a lithe 750 Breva...

Hi Scott & welcome.
There nowt wrong with character bikes, although most folks here primarily opt for performance and handling.
It's just a shame that all these traits can't be found in one bike!
Excuse my ignorance, but what is a SZR660? _________________ Adventure before dementia. |

The szr660 is one of yamahas' not all that sucessful attempts to revive the sporting single. Its a very lightweight and small sports bike with a 3/4 fairing, slightly bizzare styling, upside down forks, clip ons, and a big single front disk. They are magic around corners but run out of puff at somewhere between 100 and 115mph.
I did have a race can on mine for a bit and it sounded at 4300rpm coming over salisbury plain like a cruising tiger moth.......
I love mine. _________________ Scott the Aussie,

After a bit of mucking about and finally getting them right they went up this afternoon....
Hi Trixy...one of my favourite bits of road is up your way, the bit from Aylesbury to buckingham, then between there and Northampton (A413?) is pretty good too.
all the best,
