I think I would so long as there was a form on the back giving detailed instructions regarding someone disposing of my pron collection etc before my mum was allowed access to my house Laughing

Deffo.

If I turned into a someone who just sat there day in day out dependingon others to feed me and wipe my ass - I'd rather die.

yawn... We've had something similar in the US for years, called a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate). A bit narrower in scope than the card discussed here, it allows people to sign a statement when they're still fit & mentally competent to do so, telling doctors not to use heroic measures to prolong their lives. Generally signed when a patient first finds out they've got a terminal disease, or by the very elderly that don't want to end up a vegetable & a drain on their family.

It's not a refuse-all-treatment card or a tacit euthanasia agreement, as those opposing this in the UK want us to believe. Rolling Eyes

Reminds me of the chip-n-pin debate - laughed my *rse off at the opponents of that one too with their scaremongering predictions, as many other countries (US & DK, for example) have been doing it for decades.

Why do people sooooo enjoy hoping for the worst possible scenario to materialise?

Often donate to Dignity in Dying and get their mailouts etc.

Robert and I have both talked about this and wouldn't want to be a burden on the other. Once I start dribbling out the corner of my mouth, being incontinent and having no sense of reality then I wouldn't want to be a drain on society or my loved ones.

Oh and we both carry donor cards - all my bits apart from my eyes can be used. (Sounds strange I know)

...which illustrates my point that chip n pin technology doesn't create problems, the lack of it does!

Didn't know about the DNR over here - good to know. Would deffo sign one to prevent spending the rest of my life alone in a nursing home, awake but unable to move or speak. Shudder.
