Rear shock on the Pan is feeling decidely boingy today...

Do I JRTFT?

Do I shell out nearly £300 for an OE Honda unit?

Do I shell out £250 for Hagon

Fit HD Rozzers spec unit

Other (sensible!!) suggestion

Now I am leaving Monday, so any solution has to be workable in that time - i.e. Maxton would be out of the question...

What about getting it refreshed or whatever with a company like KAIS? I don't know if KAIS can do the Pan, my OH was certainly impressed with what they did to his GSXR 600 K1.

I've had a hagon shock before and whilst it did do what it was supposed to do (lower the bike) it also made the bike un-rideable for me. I do know other people who have been happy with their hagon shock.

10 pints of Guinness and a vindaloo with extra Chilli's, lose a stone over night hence reducing weight on said shock Confused

Laughing nob...

I'll take it out for a spank aprés work and see how it is, probably all in the mind tbh.

Mind you it's a 42,000 mile ten year old bike, so perhaps time to bite the bullet and spend some dollar on it

What about the save your money and wait for the Honda VFR 1200 coming out at the end of the year option! - according to the Honda guy at P&H this morning.

Go for a new shock with an upgraded spring to cater for the two up riding.

I do not think there is such a thing!

Re which of the others to fit, I think depends on how long you keep it, cheapest if outing it soon or the best you can afford for longevity!

Ahhhh the Honda rumour mill... depends where you go....

Dobles and Tippets mention it as a VFR1000... and as you point out P&H say it's 1200.... so the excitement will build and the end result will no doubt be a disappointing fugly 900cc V3 version of the DN01 with 4bhp hydro-electric/solar powered, belt drive 3 wheeled and CV transmission POS, not that I am sceptical about Hondas concept to reality ability at all Wink Laughing

I work 10 mins round corner from P&H could have met you for a coffee Have some tea and cake

Top plan, but where to get one off the shelf? Kais are Ohlins dealers and were sceptical about availability of one....

I'll take it out for a spank this evening and see if it was just one of those things caused by the undulations of the road being in tune or rather out of tune with the damping.

There is no specific Police shock absorber for the Pan.
The best shock for the Pan is the Fournales shock, but very expensive.
The Merrycans seem to go more for replacement shocks - check out the My-Mc ST forum - sorry I don't have it here, but I have it saved at work, and will post it later Duncs.

Ahhh ok, I must have been misinformed in the past - think this came about from comparing mine and Miketigers "escort" pan next to each other - his seemed a little higher up at the back and I'm sure someone mentioned something about Rozzers having uprated units - but like most of what one hears about the old bill, it's as you & MTR have pointed out it's probably b0ll0cks Smile

If you're going to fiddle with anything, make sure it's only the rebound settings. Fully in, then a complete turn out should be your starter for 10.

What pressure are you running the front tyre at? Yes, the front tyre has more of a bearing than you might think on the Pan.

Ok - second option - pop into Steve Jordan and ask him to take a look.

my wallet's still reeling from the good price tyre in Switzerland Laughing

Bob, cunning idea re Steve Jordan, however I'm pretty sure they're at Snetterhole from today for BSB. Think tbh I'll just get a new one as I can have it for sat and Ebay the old one to get some of the dosh back. I've had no issues as such with the OE so that's the route I'll take I think - the only issues I've had have been down to riding too fast two up. I do however think the damping isn't up to scratch on the one on there so I'll just change the f*ckin thing Smile

I have the haynes book of lies for bedtime reading tonight... Ps. I run standard pressures in the tyres - never had issue before with those.

I would try the hagon shock, as they are only in essex. Doesn't athos sing the praises of hagon ? I've also heard about the Rozzers spec shock for the pan, think it was just a stiffer spring though.
