Not technical in the slightest, but I did not know where else to post this question...it really doesn’t even deserve its own post but here it is..
I have bought countless tax disc holders and when it comes to replacing the disc, the small allen key bolts and nuts are seized with rust.
I know a bit of TLC would stop this from happening, but anyone know of a decent holder for not too many pennies.

I rode the bike into work the other day and some jobsworth what a w***er 'reported' me to their boss for not displaying a valid tax disc, in a private, locked car park.

On the advice of many on this forum, I keep my current tax disc in my purse and take it out with me when I ride. Didn't seem to bother the sussex PC who helped me out on Friday in the slightest.

As for jobsworth...tell him to MHOB!

Never had any problems with mine being stolen or seized (I love the English language, i before e except after c (and in some cases w, s, h...)) bolts, the Bandit had a holder with a rubber seal that held the clear front and disc to the holder, less secure than the bolt types and the tax disc was always mouldy but it worked ok. The ZRX has a bolt type, not seized even though it is close to the rear wheel. Maybe try a bit of grease on the bolts before you put them back in?

I carry the original in my wallet but have a colour photocopy on display in one of those cheap plastic rubber holders that seem to come with most bikes.

FFS... what a total low life nobstain. And people wonder why those in your chosen line of work get a bad name Sad . What a prick

Only one of my bikes has a tax disc on, and that's out of date Embarrassed Laughing I have got an in-date one, just not on the bike lol

The oxford ones the bolts sieze and shear. I have got one of the type PJ_DJ listed - they were at one time made/marketed by Oberon. They are not totally secure either - the were in the early days at least prone to the screws that hold the cylinder ends onto the mounting plate coming off. The material that this type is made from is quite thick around the mounting hole area - I'm not overly comfortable having 5mm less brake caliper bolt for example...

If you park up on a road somewhere you can get ticketed for not displaying a valid tax disk, and as shown earlier there are plenty of Jobs worths willing to report you Rolling Eyes

I will say though in 20+ years of motorcycling I've never had a tax disc taken off the bike.

I've mainly lost them when crappy holders have fallen apart

Never had one nicked,

Always display the original.

I do seem to lose a little screw and nut per year but then I tend to sell the bike on before I lose them all...
