Me please - have a bike rack which can be used/borrowed if needed (takes 2 bikes). I don't mind driving if someone else can navigate! _________________ An open mouth is a straight line to the mind.

I don't mind driving as i sort of know the way to ExCel by now. CH will probably meet us there as last year, but still might be a squeeze to get me and four girls in my car .....plus two bikes. _________________ Just call me Waki. |

Need to be there quite early.....need to sign in, have bikes checked and then racked. Time for a bite to eat and chill before Vanessa and Kate head off to change and prepare for the start. _________________ Just call me Waki. |

2240 metres at swimming training tonight. Hard session working on sprint, really enjoying the feeling when I have survived the session and not had to skip any part of it to keep up _________________

I did the british london 10k a few weeks ago in 57 mins so not bothered about the 5k on sat. Passed the 5k marker at about 27 mins and only really started to struggle at the 7k marker.
Is there a plan to distribute race numbers ect? or shall we just meet up on sat and sort it then? _________________ That'll be Mr Horse to you http://www.wmmcc.co.uk/home/index.php/content/view/1/1/1/1/ |

Teams;
12454 & 12416
Swim goes first and our 'wave' is due to hear the start gun fire @ 14:45
Both teams are in the same wave so we really will be against each other but in a nice friendly competitive way of course _________________

2200 metres tonight, ears still full of water
Normally the training classes stop til next term but teach is just having two weeks off so I am going to try and carry this on through the summer as it is a great effective way of burning loads of calories _________________

I understand that final timings may not be out yet, but it would be great for the sponsors if one or more of the entrants in this event could post a detailed account of what happened yesterday for each team.
So far all I know is everyone "did well" and " we all finished"
My post may be premature, however, a description of the good and bad parts for each section would at least allow the sponsors to see what pain / pleasure you all enjoyed to support the fund raising.
One thing that turns me off sponsoring charity events is not knowing what happened. I have sponsored past charity events and not heard a single thing about what happened. That just reduces my interest in sponsoring future events. One may as well just give the money direct to charity on their web sites.
It is tough enough to raise money nowadays for anything and the stories can help garner interest for future events. _________________ "My own opinion is enough for me, and I claim the right to have it defended against any consensus, any majority, anywhere, anyplace, anytime. Good Morning Boxhill
Yesterday 4 nervous team mates plus Waki (cool and calm as always)
Headed off with support crew of HCMS & Marky Mark tp Excel London
Waki even managed to park in excactly the same parking space as last year!
We headed into the centre and registered, collecting our timing chip and racking up the bikes before getting the important issue of coffees and light lunch!
Crazy Horse arrived, another cool as cucumber competitor
Support bikers arrived in form of Tusky & Biggus with the promise of sauage rolls for after the event
KIS and I got into our wetsuits and start to limba up, few pics taken at this stage
So off to the swim assembly point for a pep talk and breifing, glad we had done some warm up as the breifing didnt get us moving much at all which I found a shame. Had to hug a stranger and wish them well.
Down the stairs for our 'wave', total teams 452 but approx 157 in our start which was great as meant not so many people fighting and swimming over each other around the bouys etc.
We had to tread water for about 10 minutes I think whilst waiting for every one to swim out to the start line, whilst there we all try to suss out which is the turnaround bouy and how far away it looks!! KIS and I stayed fairly far back from the start so not to get trampled.
Then we are off, I struggle at first with not swimming how I normally would ie front crawl with head in the water and taking breaths to the side, the water is green and at first I tried to swim with head up forward, not bad for short times but not good to do for long. Eventually I start to relax and get into the swim and try to do my normal front crawl stroke with head down.
For quite a while a chap was swimming close to my left side and brushing me with his arms and body, got past him but either he or someone else hit my leg as they swam and it felt like the timing chip on my ankle was dislodged and loose, just held on with velcro strap! Was very aware of it but decided not to stop and try to re do it as more likely to loose it.
The swim seemed much better this year and I enjoyed it a lot more than in the past, training with Tina was paying dividends.
The route was a big oblong and each turn bouy a welcome sight, the last section to the ramp out seemed to take forever! The strapping young men waiting to help us out of the water was lovely and strong
Then you have to run through a light shower and up to the edge of the dock, removing your wetsuit is not so easy when your limbs are like jelly! Out of suit and then you have the long run up back into the hall and to the transition area! I was running along the dock after hearing the support team shouting encouragment
Really hate running and when you are wearing a swimming cossie in front of so many people and trying to run it is not fun
Miss G was waiting at the end of the transition line to direct me in and along the racks to Waki, changed chip over to Waki and off he went on the cycle section _________________
