Called my insurance company to notify them of change of bike...and the price has gone from £230 to £690. Apparently the Versys was a beginner bike, whereas the FZ8 is a muscle bike. Err, ok then. Confused

A quick dump of my details into go compare reveals my exact same insurer is offering me a price of £450, and the top 5 prices are all under £260.

Think I'll be telling my insurer to go f*ck themselves in the morning, and explain precisely why! Twisted Evil

They've not just used the same microfiche for the 3 bike variants have they?

There are some odd anomolies with vehicle parts... years ago Mini 1275GT front pads were spenny, yet the identical Vauxhall Viva ones were a third of the price.

Oh and it gets better ......raised this in another forum and got a few minds ticking

The OEM seal as supplied by Suuzuki has the identification NOK and BR3886H stamped on it, manufacturer and seal size?. So using that as a base and looking for the same seal, it would appear that that seal is fitted to the following bikes:

Fork OIL SEAL 46x58,1x10,5 mm NOK BR3886H
Kawasaki
- NINJA ZX 600 D1/D2 (ZX-6) 1998-2001
- NINJA ZX 600 R (ZX-6) 1998-2001
- NINJA ZX-6R 600 (ZX6/ZX6R) 2002
- NINJA ZX-6R/ZX-6RR 2002
- NINJA ZX 900 B1/B4/C1/C2 1998-2001
- NINJA ZX-9 R 900 1998-2002
- NINJA ZX-9R / ZX 900 B1/B4/C1 1998-2002
Suzuki
- SV 1000 2003-05
- GSX 1400 2002-06

So using the ZX-9R as an example look at a Kawasaki Online Parts supplier and find THIS

Now looking at their schematichttp://www.cornwallkawasaki.co.uk/shop/shop.php?cmd=showdiagram&id=4392 (looks really similar eh?) it shows the following:

Front Fork Dust Seals - Kawasaki Part Number: 92093, cost £9.02 each
Front Fork Oil Seals - Kawasaki Part NUmber: 92049, cost £9.29 each

Now compare that with the prices from Suzuki HERE

Front Fork Dust Seals - Suzuki Part Number: 51173-42F00, cost £21.68 each
Front Fork Oil Seals - Suzuki Part Number: 51153-42F00, cost £17.46 each

So by m calculations, assuming that the Kawasaki parts are exactly the same as the Suzuki parts, then part prices for replacing both ones fork seals and dust seals works out at:
Kawasaki: £36.63
Suzuki: £78.28

That's (arguably) a whopping £42.17 MORE for exactly the same parts from Suzuki made by the same manufacturer - just different packaging.

STOP RIPPING US OFF !!!! Evil or Very Mad

Slight disagreement with a car yesterday Hair Raising Shocked , no damage though.

Ahhh... the heady days of 2007. It is certainly very quiet round here these days, but I try my best. Laughing
I do see lots of people on line, but very few posts, not even slagging someone off.

Genuine Kwak parts are extortionate. When I dropped the Versys they wanted £75 for a brake lever and £65 for a footpeg. And as MrE noted in another post about Suzuki parts, they are reluctant to tell you which parts are interchangeable with other bikes...turns out the Versys used the same pegs as the ZZR1100/600 and the Z1000, which could be bought for half the price.

Had my foot runover by a Volvo (looked like a VC90 ?) outside Hampton Court Palace yesterday.

No damage or injury done but a bit annoyed that they just drove off.
