Raises interesting questions for all riders:

Did anyone take any notice of the previous limit?

Does anyone take any notice of these newly reduced limits anywhere?

How many times when you are out on your bike are you actually traveling at the posted limit?

You'll turn off one of these type of roads onto a country lane and the limit will be the National.

When in France where the speed limit on D Roads is 90kph (56mph) do you stick to the limits?

Marsh Green Road is in such a poor state I wouldn't want to do 30mph along it Laughing

WPMOT... Seems that someone somewhere along the line has not fitted the thrust washer & seals to the rear wheel of my pan meaning that the final drive has filled with brake dust and road detritus and destroyed the spline on the final drive dog and also on the driven gear in the bevel box.

The gears (matched pair) would be £400+vat and the drive dog £152+vat Shocked "luckily" I have found them on ebay, but all that because some wanker lost the thrust washer... Against a brick wall Twisted Evil

Trouble with any limit is that they are limits... just because you can, doesn't mean you should... that road in particular, I can imagine that 60 is too fast for the available vision for the r/h kink at the end of the green (which has some entrances etc around it). I clocked it as I was about to pass a car going into what I thought was an NSL, which now isn't...

ninjabob wrote:

I tend to because they are prime candidates for being caught out Rozzers having gained 3 points a fortnight ago on a 40 limit road, I am little more wary... Sad

ninjabob wrote:

Rarely at it, quite often below it and over it Wink . Actually, this time of year I am tending to behave becase all the fair weather lot are out, as well as the Rozzers

That's mental, again, just because you can... There are some ridiculous "limits" out there, we all know straight roads wide enough to be dual carraigeways that are 40mph limits, and others that you can barely fit a bike down that are NSL, no logic, but common sense is not all that common and unfortunately, we're overrun with motorised fuckwits in this country incapable of making a good judgement call on appropriate speed.

ninjabob wrote:

I think you know the answer to that one Wink although, the Frenchies are losing their sense of humour about Brits treating their roads as race tracks... I take real care through the villages/towns, and don't crack on until past the end of village/town sign - last thing I want is a long walk from being "banned" in France for 80km/h in a 50km/h village/town

ninjabob wrote:

Laughing Good point, it was only resurfaced last year? Or maybe they just tarred and feathered it with that surface dressing shit?

It is all a bit of a judgement call - the speeding noose is tightening all across Europe for bikes - personally I don't think we do ourselves any favours with loud exhausts etc. merely drawing the wrong kind of attention.

The reason that a lot of country roads are NSL is that if you post an NSL sign you then don't have to sign it again at the requisite spacing that you would be obliged to do if it was a posted Speed Limit (PSL?).

Basically it is a cost saving exercise.

I learnt this on my 'speeding awareness course'! [/quote]

We had debate before about how much is the going rate for our children's keep, and we decided my son wasn't paying enough. Even though he decided to pay an increase of 50% last month, he's been out today and put a deposit on another new bike, This time a CBR600RR in black ! I suppose I'm just jealous really. Crying or Very sad 3 years interest free credit too ! Crying or Very sad

I am pleased it was that. I saw it was closed and feared someone had got squashed.

Its quite easy being a single issue party, they are now going to get quizzed hard by an unfriendly media (I read the BBC didnt even know how to contact them, and really didnt want to, not their brand of politics)

They are however hitting a rich vein if discontent over sovreignty and uncontrolled immigration, Farage likes a pint, seems to be your best mate talking in the pub and the rest of the political landscape are going to have to start taking them seriously (at least for a while)
