Got one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/solar-powered-12v-2.4w-battery-trickle-charger-223251 and have been using it for 5 weeks and my cycle not had a flat battery in that tme the previous weeks i have had to jump or push it to get her started as i not use her as much as i did

well the solar panel went tits up, the diode went short circuit and flattened my battery, took it back and they are doing a special on a bigger model so they exchanged it for that , so far no probs and I can safely say that these do work Very Happy

Just wondering if there was any update on these. Are solar chargers any good?

yep they is good no good if your completely flat but if you need to keep it toped up I recommend them Very Happy

I have a panel on the boat. Its a 60watt jobby from Eblagg. Cost me forty soves. I added a regulator as the output voltage is around 40 volts. It keeps my 300amp/hr bank charged all year.
Smaller panels don't really need a regulator. If you work on 10 watts per 100 amp/hrs then your near the mark.
The small cheapo units from maplin are........, well you get what you pay for.....
