Change from a Honda (nice and reliable)... to a Yamaha (Which is NOT!)
I've not been about much this year (I'd like to think that some of you may have noticed..... ), and this is due to a variety of reasons, the biggest of which being my R1 has not seen much riding time due to being consistantly breaking down or left dead while i try to find funds to fix it and explain to SWMBO why the money should go on the bike repairs instead of the FAST approaching wedding and honeymoon!
Battery/charging system is still playing up. Got halfway to work last night and noticed the dials and LCD display had died. I remembered this form the last time it happened and turned the lights off, which freed up enough juice to get to work safely.... but it'll be staying in the care park until next week cause it was dead as a dead thing by the time i got there!
I've already spent obscene money having it diagnosed and 'fixed' only for the same problem to continue occuring. Apparently it's one of those allusive intermittant faults, but im at the end of my tether and bank account now
Ok, so i've moved house, got a mortgage, took a promotion, been working two jobs AND organising the wedding this year too, so can't blame the bike completely, but still..... Grrrr... arghhh...grumble.... etc.
Anyway, hope everyone's ok, i'll be looking at fixing the bike again after the honeymoon in September, so if i don't see any of you until after, hopefully i'll catch the last few warm days before the winter sets in! _________________ Not man enough for an R1....... FZ1's are cooler anyway |

Sharky,
have you had the reg/rec connector block replaced? This sounds exactly like the symptoms shown by FC's R1. It hasn't missed a beat since I got busy with the gaffer tape and shrinkwrap last year. |

It's the chicken strips, no question.
R1 Reg recs are known for it, or rather connectors corroding are... as per NSK's post.
If you can't get a new connector, then consider replacing the connections if possible with individual spade terminals, soldered and crimped if possible. _________________
