SAT 27TH JULY!!!
Getting to that time of the year again when a few silly sods set them selves the task of swimming in the docks at Excel for 750 meters (doesn't sound much distance but believe me no easy thing to do) then is the cycle of 20k (as I have never done this stage I cant comment much on the course, but have seen quite steep slippy ramps they have to tackle to get back into the Excel building!) and the final leg is the run of 5K (this I did attempt once.... NEVER again lol)
A page will be posted for any one who is feeling kind enough to donate, we are thinking a cancer charity again as this is close to many of us in some way or another.
Supporters on the day are very very welcome, I know it made me push on harder when I was doing the run!
This years athletes <cough>
V - swim
WAKI - cycle
MM - run
Summerman - swim
HCMS - cycle
Crazeyhorse - run
Thanks to Summerman for swapping events with KIS (bump + Thames = )
MM thankfully has a free day in his diary so stepped into Summermans (running) shoes _________________

Really looking forward to beating previous best times ans setting a new record in the water as my running record still stands...lol
Come on all boxhillers, come and help us do our best on the day and support us at the Excell and help us raise some money for a worthy cause!!

Yes, big thanks to Summerman for stepping into my wetsuit (ahem!) I certainly wouldn't fit into it now, let alone by July!!
@Crazyhorse, sorry if I told you the wrong date, our event is on the Saturday, the 27th. We applied in a bit of a rush, so I may have got the date wrong when I contacted you.
Please tell me you can make the 27th!!
I will be taking a supportive role this year, along with he usual suspects I'm sure! The more the merrier though and it does make for a great and exciting day out!!
Please come and support our crazy "athletes" I will genuinely miss not being involved this year Maybe next year! That's something to work towards!!
Charity is still to be decided, watch this space!! _________________ "Life is too short"

Summerman joined me at my usual Tuesday night swimming training last week............
Whilst I did the whole set with a total of 2420m he did a tad less than me (even going as far as pulling the old 'my goggles are broken' trick to stall for time and catch his breath)
Summerman is a good strong swimmer but I intend to go all out to try and beat him in the swim..... watch out spectators the first question I will ask is 'did he beat me????'
Depending on how my training goes the question may be 'how many minutes did he beat me by?????' _________________

If I'm not wrong I think it was 27m.4sec.

I'm not running, CH is.
I'm beating Waki, sub 40 or not, Waki is my target. You swimmers had better get out of the water at similar times, I want a race _________________ It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes. - Douglas Adams.

Hi All, brothers and sisters from our beloved forum, as most of you know 6 of us are taking part once again of the London Triathlon and in the mean time raising money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Well I was going to do the swim and challenge V for the best time but unfortunately I won't be able to, I had a bit of an accident and fractured by left wrist (lucky I'm right handed) so we need someone to step in and take my place, any takers???
If you are interested please PM me or KeepItSimple and let us know you can beat V's time...( I have bought a wetsuit but haven't used it yet so you are most welcome to have it for the day)
Anyway, I am really gutted I'm not doing the tri this year again but I'll be back next year.
Cheers All. _________________ The road to success is always under construction.

My son may be prepared to step into the breach on this.
He was a competitive swimmer until recently.
How far is the swim and what time does he need to beat? _________________ So many roads, so little time. |

Have you asked your son, Jimbo? Is he up for doing it? _________________ "Life is too short"

Yes, he is prepared to do it.
Two problems, no wet suit and he won't know anyone (I'm away).
I'm not sure Summerman's wet suit will fit him. He's about 6' 1" and has the body shape of Mark Foster (swam a bit like him too, 50m butterfly his speciality).
I'm sure the second won't be an issue as you're a friendly bunch.
I'll speak to him later and let you know for sure. _________________ So many roads, so little time. |

Peter (HCMS) is happy to lend him his wetsuit, he is 6'2"....not quite Mark Foster but we can't be picky _________________ "Life is too short"

My wetsuit is brand new and size XL so it should fit Jimbo' son. I'm happy too let him use it too. As for transport we can pick him up on the way or can arrange to meet him somewhere suitable. _________________ The road to success is always under construction.

Blimey, I thought both you guys were weedy little runts (I said runts!).
Obviously sitting on a motorcycle makes you look small .
I didn't see him last night as we inhabit different universes at the moment.
I will talk to him when he surfaces from his slumber, probably about midday.
Looking good though . _________________ So many roads, so little time. |
