It's easy to say with hindsight but I'd have been riding much closer to the kerb side of the lane and away from the centre of the road where the ride was. Also, if eye contact had not been made probably riding slower with a quick blast of the horn on the approach with a wave to follow once eye contact was confirmed.

Not saying it would have made any difference though

Apart from the obvious lack of observation for the driver, the biker is 'lucky' not to appear to have any injury. And I feel sorry for the little girl at the front, must have been traumatic. Sad

Im with Red....no plan in any way shape or form could have prevented this...the rider had no reason to suspect the driver was going to turn, no indicators and therefore had no real reason to make eye contact, we dont and cannot obtain eye contact with every driver on the road if we tried we would with no doubt crash for not looking where we are going. Road position again has no baring on this case had the rider been gutter side of the lane he would merely have gone over the bonnet of the car. it is pure negligence of the car driver and quite frankly id be pushing for a prosecution of such.
Quite possibly the child in the front seat was a distraction for the driver and in my mind should have been sat in the rear with the other adult so the driver could concentrate on driving. watching the video the sun is behind the rider and therefore would have been dazzling the driver also....still doesn't detract from the fact of no indication the bikes do not appear to be moving at any sort of pace judging by the speed the rider behind manages to bring it to a halt....i really am hard pushed to see ANY rider error.
