Right then the votes have been counted and the consensus is for last week of August 2008 and there will be an optional 2nd week (September) for those wanting to tour a bit further afield with some overnight stops to the Italian Dolomites.

(Week 1) Dates 22nd August - 31st August (this is 5 working days, two weekends and a Bank Holiday and totals 10 days) Single base trip to Lauterbrunnen

(Week 2) Dates 1st September - 7th September (this optional week adds another weekend and 5 working days and totals 17 days) 2nd week a few overnight stop en-route to Dolomites.

I will probably ditch this this thread and start a new one in the near future for peeps that want to register an interest and receive an email newsletter (or I could set up a basic web-site for info I guess). As mentioned this trip is meant to be flexible, ie, alternating entire group rideout and free days so peeps can either chill in the mountains, relax in the towns or tear up the passes on their own or in smaller groups, as they wish. Cool

The plan for getting down there and back will be possibly 2 - 3 groups & leaders.

1) Vans, cars and trailers, this is a pretty easy 1 day trip 650 miles on the French toll roads

2) Bikes only, this is for those with balls of steel and good backs 1 day trip 650 miles on the French toll roads.

3) Bikes only 2 day trip through French towns and villages on predominantly non-toll roads. (WD Help !!!)

Chuff mentioned a return trip via the Nurburgring for those that want it.www.nurburgring.org.uk

Trying to pitch accomodation in the £20 - £30 bracket with an option of camping for the brave or stupid Laughing

Costs TBH a bit early to say but I guess with petrol, food, ferries etc your gonna blow £75 per day unless you're a complete beer monster. The aim is to make it as cheap as possible for those with a limited budget.
