April is nearly upon us and tradition states that the fair weather brigade will be out in force this weekend along with Surrey/Sussex/Hampshire/Kent/Londons etc finest....

So are you a fair weather rider? Or are you just "selective"? Given the choice if it's persisting down do you take a car/bus/helicopter instead? What makes the final decision for you as to ride or not when it's less than tropical?

Personally rain doesn't bother me if it's "proper" rain rather than the fine misty stuff... Proper rain keeps the tarmac cleaner anyway (apart from rivers of mud yadda yadda), that's not to say I rush to go out in it, but some journeys are for me more practical by bike than any other mode of transport.

however it didn't stop me from doing a trackday in zero degrees, snow & hailstorms

When the alternative is public transport, it's either the bike or stay in bed.

tough one to answer really.
As my bike a spare time thing to me then ive normaly agreed to meet up with someone and its rare i say im going to be somewhere and dont show up.
If its a case of i wake up and fancy a ride but its persisting down then i dont go out.
If i go out and the heavens open up then so be it.
Been caught in one or two torrential downpours with Biggus eh fella.

If I have to, I will ride whatever the weather. Mind you, these days I try and avoid that horrible white shit at all costs. For fun it's preferably dry only. If ya get caught out in it then so be it.

I'll let "Fair weather biker" go this time. Only because "Fair weather mortorcyclist" doesn't have quite the same ring to it Smile

I'm lucky I guess. My bikes have, for some time now, been a "toy".

So, if the roads are even damp, the bike stays in the garage.

I don't have a car. I can and do drive mikes car when I have to (transporting the dogs around, getting the weeks shopping etc) but I hate driving. If I HAVE to go somewhere I would always rather take my bike than drive if I can, regardless of weather. If, however, I am just going out for a ride for fun with no particular destination in mind then I don't go out if it is raining because riding in the rain isnt really my idea of fun.
