Flipper replied saying wouldn't you be better buying clothes in the USA considering the favourable exchange rate at the mo _________________

Going on a day trip to France with a couple of reprobates this Sunday (9th) otherwise would have definately come. Our tickets where a bit more expensive £11 outward before 10:00 am and all afternoon until 20:00 £21 for the return. Also bear in mind the closer you get to the departure date before booking the more expensive it becomes. _________________ "Those who understand compound interest are destined to collect it.

Ok so far we have 8 for and 4 against for want of a better way of putting it
so as per BHF way cut and paste your names if your interested and i mean really commited to doing this - come rain or shine,, cos if i can get a discount for the tunnel for a group booking i will, which means i may well have to fork out cash and i will be asking for debits to my account before i will include you.

dont want to put you all off but if you have an off and the bike is damaged neither the RAC nor the AA will recover the bike to the UK...Thats your job...I dont have my papers handy but I have my insurance and life cover with a company that does bikes for the whole of Europe, its very good but not cheap....if you have an accident they will recover you and the bike to the UK...let me get all the details when i get home...i have an annual policy as i have done a few trips abroad...
The french police dont like you going to fast through villages, nor taking the micky on the toll roads, but on the back roads they are so empty around britany its totally marvelous with fast sweeping bends and some amazingly long empty straight sections for testing the nerves....lots of opportunity to get air as well with some of the bridges and undulating roads... _________________ track days rule, |

BEEN ASKED TO POST FOR INTRESTED RIDERS.
EDITIED
The following is a list of stuff that you must take with you when taking your motorcycle abroad. It should be considered 'work-in-progress' and I will update the list as and when you all point out my errors and omissions!
Compulsory
Passport
Driving licence
Motorcycle logbook (V5)
Insurance certificate - see Green card below
Green card
Obtain an International Motor Insurance Certificate (green card), from your motor insurer. It is important to check with your motor insurer or broker what cover you have abroad as a Green Card may not always be issued (NOT ALL INSURERS ISSUE GREEN CARD DETAILS ARE ON BACK OF CERTIFACATE)
MOT certificate if required
Please make sure your bike is legal – enough tyre tread and that the indicators, lights and horn all work etc. One of us getting stopped for something avoidable will no doubt make you rather unpopular with the rest of the group!
Spare bulb kit (and fuses)
GB sticker
UK registered vehicles displaying euro-plates (circle of 12 stars above the national identifier on blue background) are no longer obliged to affix a GB sticker to the rear of the vehicle when driving in European Union countries
Cards and CASH
Be very, very aware, UK chip and pin cards are not accepted in France for petrol..... take cash!
Correction:- Been told they do during normal opening hours so bring cash just in case. Some british cards dont work
Warning triangle
Headlamp beam deflectors ( not sure but were only be there day time ??)
Not compulsory but highly recommended
First aid kit
EHIC card (formerly E111) – application form available from a Post Office or you can also apply on-line at: http://www.dh.gov.uk/travellers
Toolkit
Puncture repair kit (Simon can advise on this!)
Insulation tape
Chain lube
Travel insurance
Make sure your insurance covers you for repatriation of your motorcycle in case of a breakdown AND accident, (not always the case - check the small print)
Medical insurance
Phrase book – are there any French speakers amongst us?
IF YOU HAVE NOT GOT THE EHIC CARD YOU NEED TO APPLY NOW BECAUSE IT TAKES 7 DAYS TO ARRIVE.
ANY CORRECTIONS ARE OF COURSE WELCOME

I have spoken to eurotunnel and we cannot get a group discount so you will have to book your own tunnel crossing with your own card and take this with you to book in at Folkestone and Calais.
There are only 49 places left on the outward bound journey and 23 for the return at time of typing.
The link is below, I have written out an idiots guide for you to read so that we are all on the same crossing. Spaces are going fast and you need to book this to avoid dissapointment.
On the outward Journey you need to use the date of 15th September 2007 and click on Folkestone to Calais on the drop down arrow in the box beneath
For the return its 15th September 2007 and Choose Calais to Folkestone from the drop down arrow in the box below.
Choose motorcycle from Your vehicle description, select height; up to 1.85 metres. Select none for trailer or caravan and no for LPG or CNC tank. Choose United Kingdom for the which country do you live in.
Click continue and it will bring up Select you preferred time of day and fare type on the “Going out” box go along the short stay saver line and select the 0800 - 1000 crossing
On the Coming Back go along the Short Stay Saver line and select the 1800-2000 crossing then click continue at foot of page. This will take you to Select Shuttle Departure, Select 0842 for going out and 1850 for coming back. Scroll down and click on continue without insurance! Put in your card details that you are going to take with you as you need to take this card for the electronic booking in procedure.
http://www.eurotunnel1.com/direct/booking/journey.asp?lang=en
if you cannot do it on the internet cos at work (secure payment thingy)then ring this number and do it over the phone 0870 535 3535
