Do you have a small squarish plate, a letterbox plate or a legal (or what you think is legal) plate?
Edit: and if you don't have standard plate, is there any reason why you don't?

Wheres the "I have a plate for all occasions" option?
Normally have the 9x7 plate fitted (legal font though) Never been tugged for this one and never had it even mentioned when stopped for any other reason either.
I fit the letterbox (9x3) plate when I'm feeling rebellious. this one garantees a tug within a couple of weeks! Does look nice though, so
I always fit the 100% legal plate for MOT time. I ain't that daft!
Because that option is missing, I voted for what is currently fitted.
PS. I once had a plate made that was the size of a credit card (I kid you not) I only had that one fitted for a grand total of 2 days before I took it off, never to be fitted again. Bloody thing made me so paranoid it wasn't even funny! _________________ The lunatics have finally taken over the asylum |

Legal on the commuter, stock size but dodgey font on the Triumph, 8x5 inch on the Busa. Later 2 just for esthetics, not avoiding detection as VOSA insist we all do it for
(and yes, legal ones for MOT time ) _________________ It's not the speed of life that bothers me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

no more to suit getting MoT's . A while back I was talking to a copper at box hill and his view was that as long as they were not like black on yellow one line dymo tape he was happy, that said, his 'tolerance' was his and not necessarily that of Surrey at large. Would be interesting to know if when they're looking at scamera pics whether plate offences are picked up as well? If not I suspect it's only a matter of time...
Time for a story.. Once upon a time, there was a fella who had a CB1300, he used to meet up with some other like minded eejits at Blackheath tea hut armed with a screw driver... He used to remove his plate and scream about SE London after midnight with his mates setting off GATSO's wherever they went... Then one day he woke up and decided that having gotten away with it for so long it was probably only a matter of time so he decided that 120 mph antics through limehouse link minus plate would have to come to an end before the . The end _________________

Legal on the bandit, its not exactly going to ruin the aerodynamics of that barge!
Sure the one on the dirt bike is not exactly legal, but most of the time its so covered in mud that you could not see it anyway. _________________ Its better to regret something you did rather than something you didnt do... |

"Sure the one on the dirt bike is not exactly legal, but most of the time its so covered in mud that you could not see it anyway."
.........I got a tug for that. It was one particularly wet winter sunday. I had been on the lanes around Shere. I hit the A25 at Five Acre Barn to come home. The bike and me were covered in mud/horsecrap and bits of decaying god knows what.
Police were very polite and enquired how the bike had got so dirty. Well it didn't take a detective to work it out really and then instructed me to clean off the tail light and the plate. I refused on the grounds that what was stuck to the rear end was a biohazard and if they wanted it clean then they could do it. He just laughed and sent me on my way. Some plod have a sence of humour, well they ARE human after all................. |
