Okies Smile - on the poll so far this idea looks like a goer so Ive put a bit more thought into it..

I for one would like to make this an "Event" and try and raise lots of money for a local worthwhile cause that can benefit everyone that might go... possibly the East Surrey Hospital, Air Ambulance, Injury Rehabilitation Unit or something along those lines (andi you might have a few good suggestions with your line of work)

I also think it would be an idea to NOT limit attendance to the BHF so that way staff from what ever charity we choose to support will also have the option of coming.

As for format I agree with a few others that the best way to go would be to get the exclusive use of a local pub with a large garden where live music and a BBQ or Hog Roast can happen without us having to apply for licenses and permissions etc. We would also need to get a place close to a cheap Hotel(s)

Finally, Im looking at setting a date of one of the Friday or Saturday nights of July. I have checked the last few years weather records and July seems to have been the driest of the Warm Months

I'm also looking at funding this in the same way the Christmas Dinner / Dance was (i.e. Price everything up, set a price and sell tickets, to cover the cost of the BBQ and the live entertainment)

Any thoughts or comments about going forward with this are welcome

I don't know if people remember but Baloo suggested a Boxhill Picnic during the Summer.

As it was a bit late in the summer the idea never really got off the ground but if we are to organise one for this Summer now is the time to start thinking about it.

Would people be up for a ticket only Hog Roast or BBQ at a favourable pub with music laid on and overnight accommodation (hotel or caampsite) nearby sometime during June / July / August?

Like the Christmas do it would need to be a ticketed event and it would also be a great opportunity to raise more funds for a local worthy cause...

Any Thoughts or suggestions???

Good idea, especially being at a pub so there could be live music. I'd be interested for sure but summer is short and we all like to go and do our own stuff too so nailing a date down could be tricky, but yeah, in principle, I'm in.

I think it would be a lot of fun.
Also as I recall in the summer a number of parks open up for theatre and opera...

sounds great to me Very Happy have a word with the weather man to book when you want summer and we'll be well on our way Laughing

grab a hotel with outside area, get them to give us a deal to book the whole place out, BBQ and use of their bar with band. They get money piling into the bar, guaranteed sellout night with possible return next year theyre laughing so are we Very Happy

If this is the popular idea you need to check with the chosen pub if they have a PEL (Public entertainment and live music license).
Without it they (And the bands/DJ's/Acts) would be breaking the law.....

Only know all this crap cause i used to manage a nightclub and bar!!

Would we be paying the bands/Acts Etc? I have a friend with a country & western/Johhny cash tribute band if anyone's interested..... and i could always fill in the gaps with some music/disco?......
