Are you a motorcylist or a biker?

Me personally, I don't like being referred to as a "biker" as that term in my opion implies cruiser riding lifestyle rider. I prefer the term motorcyclist.

Which are you and why?

Now you know this will only start Wildman off! Laughing

Me? Sometimes I'm a motorcyclist and sometimes a bicyclist, but then again, a motorcycle is, strictly, a bicycle so maybe it should be motorbicyclist.
Then you would have motortricyclist, but would a car driver be a motorquad.... oh forget it! Confused

Not sure why but I refer to myself as a biker.

Probably because it rolls of the tongue easier than motorcyclist.

Im neither.

Im an individual and don't really want to be pigeon holed into either of the above.

For me the work "Biker" counjours images of Hells Angels and the like whereas Motorcyclist to me sounds like someone who rides their motorbike on the way to spot trains (sorry for the use of a sterotype there)

I don't necessarily want to be associated with the negative (ghey) connotations that the word "biker" conjures up in peoples minds.

Having said that, I probably fall into the "trainspotter" camp that Boudicas describes, Laughing

I find more and more that I don't want to be associated with the biking 'community' at all...The people I have met are generally lovely and welcoming, but the whole lifestyle-testosterone-laden atmosphere of any biking event invariably becomes an excuse to show off how fast/how loud/how expensive/how shiny your bike is, rather than JRTFT. This isn't a dig at the thousands of people who enjoy such events, but for me, I just wanna go ride.

I would prefer 'biker' because it always meant to me someone that lived and breathed bikes. At the moment I'm an ex-biker ! Crying or Very sad
Perhaps this section will need changing to 'Motorcycling' ?

TBH people can and do call me what they like (bike related or otherwise). I really could not care less.
