Hi all,
Name is Beth and I'm from Redhill. Also Padd84's Mrs.. and as the name suggests I'm just a pillion...
I am mostly for providing weight over the back wheel, occasional directions (normally too late for actioning), interesting hand signals at blind car drivers, commenting on peoples houses/front gardens, swearing when we go very fast, vomming when we get air over a bump/bridge, headbutting him in the shoulderblades when we stop and keeping Paddy's back warm and dry in the rain.
I tagged along to Skinny's run and guided walk yesterday, and thought I might put a name to a face on here as you may be seeing a bit more of me on some of the more leisurely weekend rideouts.
So HELLO! _________________ Paddy's Mrs |

Hello & I was supposed to be there yesterday but circumstances (beer related) dictated otherwise. Tempted to get your own bike? _________________

So I understand
I was, yes, did my CBT and everything but was never that confident in my riding ability and to be honest I really think I'd just end up splatting myself up the road.
So I'm happy sitting on the back for the time being _________________ Paddy's Mrs |

Welcome Ballast, it was nice to meet you yesterday.
I'm sure if you came out on a couple of 'wobbler' runs you'd get the confidence to ride your own machine. Review and watch the 'Events and Runs' section for details of these rides. _________________ So many roads, so little time. |

Good to see that he doesn't just get lost when I'm around
I sometimes have my daughter as pillion and the headbutt is familiar to me!

Quote: | No-Way-Am-I-Gay (The Jason Syndrome)
If the pilot's a bloke, and the pillion is too, this personality trait sometimes shows up in the pillion: The pillion tries perching as far away from the bloke in front as is feasible, keeping hands off the pilot. No-Way-Am-I-Gay ocassionally falls off under acceleration, but prefers that to being thought gay. Usually Italian or Greek. Will kick your head in if you tell him he's insecure (even though you only meant he'll find it hard to stay on).
Watch out when accelerating:
For wheelies
For feet in the armpits as the pillion heroically attempts to stay on without doing anything so poofy as to grab on to the bloke in front.
Hopeless. |
My nephew did this when I took him out for a ride......when I braked before corners he slid forward, then spent the rest of the corner trying to wriggle back again while I tried to keep the bike on the road! Never again! |

Hi Beth and welcome to boxhill.
I did see you briefly before you all left for the ride/walk, I was there for a quick coffee after my early morning ride.
We didn't get introduced but hello.

Having just asked Paddy, I don't think I really fit into any of the categorys.
I think mostly I'm just irritating, I'll go from commenting on everything (so a Back seat driver: type B), then when he tells me to be quiet I stop paying any attention at all and then I don't lean into the corners properly.
I pointed out I can't see a lot of the corners (especially the sneeky sharp ones) because his big head is in the way... _________________ Paddy's Mrs |
