Having just read an article about someone filling up their tank, only to have it promptly leak all over the hot engine and their trousers, it begs the question, do you fill up whilst sat on the bike? Hair Raising

I have also had petrol piss out of the bottom of my VTR tank due to a leaky seal when filling up, so I always dismount.

Common sense says, fill up dismounted for a quick getaway should things go wrong.....

I know many on here fill up when still mounted, so what's your take on this Question :

Dismounted every time for me. Apart from spillage I just feel uncomfortable.

Dismounted... I very nearly dropped the bike since I'd neglected to put the side stand down and over balanced putting the nozzle back on the pump Embarrassed

That said, on tours when doubling up with someone else, if it's their turn to pay I might stay on the bike, the exception rather than the rule.

Always filled my bikes up while being sat on them.

Never had a spillage either. Just found it easier to do than getting off the bike Cool
