Hiya everyone,

Joined Boxhill Forum ages ago but never got around to posting anything. So a belated hello and Merry Xmas.

Ride all year, except for snow conditions. Realise some people will be putting their bikes away until Spring.

If anyone fancies a ride out in the winter months, do get in touch.

At the moment i am doing some research into a round tour to Spain/France to see the running of the Bulls in 2013.

Ive ridden in America. The rodeos have a game called "easy money". If you can get the ribbon off that very angry bull without getting killed in the ring, then you win 500 bucks. The things us humans like to do. LOL.

It would be a ferry to Santander. PO have a newish ferry called the PONT AVON which makes the crossing seem like a 5* event compared to other ferry rides. Santander is a case of arrive and get the hell out. But just outside Santander is a little known gem called Castro Urdiales. Great hotels on wonderful beaches at reasonable prices. Castro Urdiales is also a stone's throw from some amazing Spanish mountain riding. Roads smooth as silk and laid with plenty of twisties with wonderful views. I would load some pics of this town and the mountains, if i knew how to get them up and on here.

Pamplona is easily reached within a day. And for those already in the know, heading towards Biarritz, across the border in France is the foot of the Pyrenees.....and we all know about the wonders of two wheeling the Pyrenees.

If this idea tickles your fancy, please feel free to talk to me about it. And all ideas welcome from anyone who have already been, seen and conquered. Knowledge is power.

Very Happy

Welcome to BH...

The trip sounds awesome...I was having a look at this sort of thing myself ferrying to either Santander or Bilbao and slowly riding home through France via the twisty road function on the tomtom urban rider...

There are sooooo many places to ride to it gets difficult to decide where to go.....

I know what your mean, the world is such a large place we are never going to see it in this life time.....way too many choices of where to go and what to do!

Definitely spoilt for choice particularly in Europe, thats for certain. Its great that from the UK we can access many ferry ports/or train to ride across foreign borders without anyone checking where you came from and where you are going and be in another culture so easily, its fab.

Of course the other upside is that bikers are definitely more respected on European roads, welcome in establishments and i cannot say i have ever had any problems with European police. Quite the opposite they have been extremely helpful even alerting me to roadworks and the quickest way out of town.

A friend and I rode to Sussex recently and were refused service in a restaurant because we were in biker gear. We were not covered in mud and he looked very smart in his Belstaff gear. It was unfortunate for them because we took our money elsewhere. Oh well.

Now is definitely the time to be planning.....makes those dark, cold miserable days off the bike all the more exciting.

Very Happy

One other thing I was thinking about is a ride to B500 through the Black forest in Germany....It's meant to be great....

Just trying to figure out how long it would take to get there and back via good roads as i don't do motorways for more than a junction or two and it's difficult to get out for more than 4 days (young family, work etc)...

Hello and welcome to the forum Smile

I booked up for Madam and I last week and will be going on the Pont Avon there and back which will be nice Cool

Posted a link to a 10% discount available until the end of December on this thread. http://www.boxhill.co.uk/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=27079

Works out £50.00 cheaper for us to use the ferry including accommodation than it does to ride there, especially when taking into account an overnight stop each way and petrol.... Plus it's a lot less wear and tear on the bike with the benefit of arriving fresh and rested.... (Storms permitting) Wink

Thank you Napa121, Waki, MotorGP, Summerman, Willz and Tusky for your Xmas wishes and warm welcome.

Napa121 - Life is a Bitch......France twisties or Black Forest B500, difficult, all i can say is aim to do both so you do not have to choose. LOL.

Waki - You are a clever clogs, how the hell do you get a xmas tree icon etc into these posts. LOL. Buy the way, did you get your Scala Rider off Ebay and are you happy with it. Ive never paired mine with another scala rider, if you are out and about one day, shall we expertiment to see if the technology does what it says on the box. LOL.

Tusky - thanks for the link, information is power and any savings certainly welcome. Can recommend the buffet on board in the posh restaurant if you have not already indulged. All you can eat for £25ish, an international feast of the most amazing food worth indulging in for several hours to help past the time on board. You can make it worth the money and plenty of seafood if thats your thing. Can be booked on line before you depart. Have a great trip.

Ho ho ho is it Xmas yet....im feeling those parcels under the tree when no ones looking. LOL.
