I am in a jam! I have failed my mod 1 twice now and have quite a bit of riding experience. I know I can keep my nerves under control for it but I can't afford to lay out another 200-500 quid for a DAS, what I'm enquiring might be unethical but then again mildly prosperous for whomever gets involved.
1) Do you have an ER5 or similar?
2) Would you be willing to let me use your bike for my test? (cash incentive & short term insurance paid by me obviously)
or 3) Are you a qualified instructor that wants a bit of private work?
If no one can help I fully understand this is on the level and I will put my beloved 600 bandit as collateral if need be. Drop me an email at james.hussey82@gmail.com
Cheers all, hope to be on the hill soon! |

I don't think it was so much the school, I used to get horrifically nervous which is what caused me to make silly mistakes, the instructor I had was great and 100 times better than my first instructor. I will check out ace though thanks very much. |

I did what V did, and after failing first time (did the U-turn fine then forgot to turn off my indicators after a turn!) I spent a few weeks on a 125 pootling round getting lots of practice and a bit more confidence. Sailed through the second time. Good luck. |

+1
Tony and Fiona, both spot on. Got me and KIS through ours with no problems. Mine was pre newfangled test and KIS was Mod1 and 2.
Bikewize are also very highly recommended :

Hi Jim. First thing is the new rules that came in on Jan 19. If you take a test on a er5 it will need to be restricted. Then you can't ride the bandit unless you restrict that. If your over 24 then you can take the test on a bandit and won't have to restrict it. The only 2 things are you will need to make sure the bike is road legal. IE no race cans and it is insured for use on test. The other is you can't ride it to the test centre you would have to take it in a van or ride with a DAS qualified instructor.
Need any more help then give us a shout.

Gaz you're a fucking legend!! I didn't realise I could do it on my own bike now? is that right even though its a 600? I'm speaking to my dad tomorrow about sorting it out for me so I'll be calling you next week hopefully, I left my number with James when I popped into the office last week. Drop me a text if you get the chance and let me know what it'll cost say two days on my bike?
And to all that replied thank you very much I know Bikewize are highly recommended as Martin from there is/was my instructor great bunch and I've known Gaz for ages! Thanks all! |
