Gone is the Labour of love that was the GSX1400
a few mods already carried out by the previous owner include
sachs rear shock
scorpion exhausts with removable baffles
wiring mod to the ECU to access second map
looking for others before I start.....and NO I wont be polishing the frame _________________ Rust is lighter than carbon fibre!

cheers Bob ...it seems to bring a grin to my mush every time I ride it so far and she got an outing with jimbo on the night crawlers which was an ideal 1st proper ride as obviously the darkness and mist reduced the pace and enabled me to learn the roll on roll off technique so many v twin riders talk of. its certainly a whole different bag of nails compared to what ive been riding for the past decade or so _________________ Rust is lighter than carbon fibre! |

Test rode one a couple of years ago and loved it.
I don't know why I didn't buy it really!
Lovely colour and all shiny sparkly (even in the dark ).
Enjoy it Pete. _________________ So many roads, so little time. |

Wouldn't be me if I didn't do something now would it ....so far...removed the god knows how many years of crap from the wheels to reveal the true colour, 3 cans of chain cleaner to remove the excess build up of what appeared to be congealed moly grease and reveal a nice gold chain which was instantly treated to some proper lubrication. another 3 cans of brake cleaner to free the disc bobbins as they were solid all the discoloured, and chipped laquer removed from the heel plates, clutch and brake levers and polished ( unfortunately they really were bad so had to be done ).
debating with ones self whether to reduce (not stubby) the scorpion cans (new decals en route from scorpion ....for free no less) or may even save pennies and get a nice set of GP cans ?????
looking into LSL bar conversion but fighting with myself over that one.
going to aquire a replacement side stand as they are renowned for falling over due to the poor angle of the std ones.
much much more to look at yet but that's the storey so far _________________ Rust is lighter than carbon fibre! |

Update: scorpion cans now 6 inches shorter, tried without wadding and sounded horrendous and tinny so took them apart again and repacked ....much better
clutch bled through with fresh fluid as the stuff in the reservoir resembled dishwater ....apparently it is a trait of the bike to turn the fluid grey pretty quick but it never hurts to start with fresh then I know when it was last done.
now in possession of my tomtom mount which the dealer very kindly removed for me from the gsx ....he also very kindly lost a pin and both springs from it ( luckily I have 3 old mounts which I was able to use for spares ) so just have to link it into the wiring ( going to remove a very stupidly placed cigarette outlet which clashes with the clutch lever and use that supply) and it can sit on the ram mount which cam with the bike.
screen name stickers bought and applied and scorpion badges arrived and ready to be applied. pics to follow _________________ Rust is lighter than carbon fibre! |
