Over the past few weeks i've seen people out and about on all manner of bikes from peds, to harleys, to sports bikes wearing next to nothing apart from the only legally required bit of safety kit, a crash helmet.

I've been pulled over when I was on my scooter a few years ago, and told to wear some bloody gloves. _________________

dont think it matters.. its in your own hands.. if you're only gonna be going slowly then its up to u.. i generally just wear my jeans when i'm going into town.. but still have gloves...
if i lived in a smallish town which i just pootled about in i'd probably prefer not to even wear a lid if i was just popping down the road.. but each to their own |

I was talking to a chap outside Brighton Hospital while i was having my thumb fixed, he had brain damage from riding his bike up the road without a lid and someone backed out of a drive and took him out - he said he was barely doing 20mph... _________________

I voted for personal choice. However, I believe that you have to be a complete retard not to wear at least jeans, jacket, gloves and some kind of boots when on ya bike. I don't care how slow ya riding! I wont even take a pillion that can't/wont comply with that list. If they wanna know how it would feel without falling off a bike to find out. I would suggest they take an angle grinder to a patch of bare skin!!!! FUCKWITS, the lot of em!!! _________________ The lunatics have finally taken over the asylum |

I feel sorry for the surgeons and nurses that have to put these people back together after riding without leathers. _________________

A nice milf was telling me at the Hospital last week - she happened upon a 'ped that had gone into the back of a car - two-up.
Both lads with jeans, tshirts and trainers.
One lad mildly road rashed - the other on the ground.
She went to see if he was OK, but all he could go on about was that he'd lost a trainer, and could she find it.
She didn't actually say this to him, but she told me there wasn't much point, because he literally didn't have a heel!

I think it should be compuplsory.
Why should I have to wait for an ambulance to turn up as a result of me having a heart attack (true - 4 years ago) because some effing muppet wipes out whilst wearing shorts and a t shirt and needs treatment.
There was a whole debate about this in Ride a couple of years ago; personal choice, i agree with, but not when it is at the expense of someone else.
If must, let them do it, but first sign a waiver agreeing to go without any NHS treatment should they need medical attention. |

Well what can i say my daughter has had her first off,she was going round a roundabout as you do,when the car infront idicates to go right so my daughter indicates to leave the roundabout and as she does so this woman driver decides to go left instead, there is my daughter and this other woman trying to get off at the same time,my daughter has to pull up sharply or she would have been sideswiped, bearing in mind she has only been on the road for a week or so she loses her balance and falls off to the right, she was only going 5-10mph and has some damage to her lid which will need replacing, her gloves are very scratched her knee is bruised, but thankfully she was wearing all the right clober so no damage to her person her lid is scratched on the jaw line i would not like to see the damage to her face if she wasn't wearing a full face or the damage to her palms if she did not wear gloves. When i bought the bike i insisted that she wore all the right equipment or she would not be allowed out on it,thank God that this has now paid off .The damaged parts of the bike can be replaced, her parts can't without a lot of pain and suffering to her and her family not to mention the cost to the good people who pay national health contributions.
Anyway she has learnt a very valuable lesson DON'T TRUST ANYONE ON THE ROAD THEY ARE ALL OUT TO KILL YOU so guess what i voted for _________________ |

glad to hear all the equipment done its stuff an she is ok.
cant say how glad i was for the armour when i came off i reckon bruising coulda been breakage had i not had it.
As for the back pads we both have them although they are cheapies that lidls had on offer we figured something is better than nothing.
Am having trouble getting used to it but i guess if you pay the right price they get more comfortable. |
