"no mate to be a moped it has to have pedals" was the case years ago when I was riding them, but it all changed and the FS1E became the FS-1.

Look up the definition and I think you'll find yours is still classed as a ped......nothing wrong with that.
That is of course unless they've changed it all again. I mean we've got to keep all these civilservants busy and in a job haven't we?

mmm i was never sure, but im more n happy to call it a 'ped

i call it a moped most of the time anyway but u always get the odd 'how can it be a moped without pedals' Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Surprised

i wouldnt want to call it a scooter, its not a twist and go-nowhere affter all Laughing Laughing Laughing

at the end of the day i dont think anyone should be told they cant join any forum because of their choice of bike (some of us dont have much choice when were restricted to a 50 anyway - wht ever you buy its still only going to a be a 50), i mean were all on two wheels after all!!!

Ah the wisdom of the young! (not being sarcastic! ....you remind me of my son ...damn site more sensible than his mother!!)

I fully agree that scooter riders should be allowed to join the forum.

They should also be prepared to take some good-natured stick.

And, should any of them ever, by some remote chance, happen to visit me at home ....they should be prepared to park around the corner!!!!

thought it was still classed as a moped as long as it was 50cc or under whatever it may be
as for scooter owners
ok we had upright 50cc's when we were 16 but were we really better behaved!, well not really
and i may have had a leather jacket but remember being in jeans & trainers a lot
you could also say that some of the gropu riding thats done on 1000cc is basically the same as the scooters just on a faster scale
and as I think WD said once
to be old & wise, first you must be young & stupid
(apologies if that was someone else's quote)

so, scooter owners, welcome them in as you would anyone else
good people are good people, no matter what they ride
twats are twats

Point of interest here.
Why is it that those who have voted no appear to feel the need to justify there decision by putting up a post.
I wonder why mmmmmmmmmm Confused Confused Confused

This is a discussion forum about bikes.
You asked a question, not only in your poll, but in your first post as well.
We've answered!

some really sensible comments through this thread and im not gonna vote but will add this to the debate ..............
All should be allowed to join because as said there are those using the peds, scoots or whatever ya wanna call em as a genuine route into the world of motorcycling ...on the other hand you have the 16 year old that cant get his 306 yet or anyother car due to his/her age.
Look back and we have had our fair share of rejects riding larger machines join the forum get slated and locked out.
Everyone deserves a fair chance so lets give it to em and if they wanna hang emselves there are plenty on here with the rope to offer Cool

Well I rode a scooter before I got my first 600. Though it was a 125, the 50cc version of the Aprilia SR is ridden by a lot of 'young people from council estates'. I bought one because
a) I wanted something to get to me work cheaply
b) it was relatively cheap
c) I wanted 2 wheeled fun
d) I couldn't afford to do my DA and get a bike.

I think there's probably a few people who are/have/will be in this position. Excluding people from a forum because of the bike they ride is just stupid, and quite fankly quite obnoxious.

ffs will no one see my point here.

A SCOOTER AIN'T A MOTORCYCLE THATS WHY THERE CALLED SCOOTERS.

Now if this forum ain't about motorcycles then I apologize and will go away red faced. Embarrassed

If we want to be pedantic about it look on the tax disc of your bike. What does the taxation class say? Now go look at a tax disc of say.....a speedflight 100cc......what does the taxation class say? Both will say Bicycle..........ones 1000cc and ones 100cc and the person on the speedflight has to do the same test to ride his as you did to ride yours.....................now wheres the difference?
