OK...
Would I swap my bike for a scooter? ....NO WAY!! (but ask me again in 4wks and the prospect of clutchless 2-wheeled transport might be sounding more appealing ...although I would also need a wig and dark glasses!)
Do I initiate nods to scooter-riders ...No
Do I return a nod initiated by a scooter-rider ....Yes, they need all the encouragement they can get to join the world of the real bike
Would I rather my teenage offspring chose to ride a 600cc bike or a 100cc scooter? ...no question. And yes, it is a matter of observed attitude ...I don't believe that kids on scooters take them as seriously (clothing prime example)
Should we allow scooter-riders on the forum ...too damn right! I just don't believe in exclusionism (..although I don't say Hi to newbies who don't have a bike ...so I guess that makes me a hipocrite?!) |

hmmm..............I just bought a scooter, does that mean I'm not a proper bike rider anymore? Am I now a pariah of the forum or is it that its just the form of transport that will suit my needs........stirkes me some people need to take the blinkers off and look at the wider picture.

"Should we exclude the stereotypical type of scooter rider from this forum?"
I would still vote no though because I hate stereotyping. You can't be certain what someone is really like from their posts on a forum anyway. |

Yep, those people are riding like idiots alright and I wouldn't want to be associated with them, but you can't blame the vehicle for the actions of the rider! It would be a bit like blaming a dog if the owner doesn't pick up the dog's poo.
And I have to say, I have seen some dispatch riders in London make some of those kind of moves. Doesn't mean that all dispatch riders ride like idiots though does it.
We on this forum could say that we don't want scooter riders on here because we think they all behave like those idiots. Mr average car driver might believe that ALL people on two wheels ride like that. We know that isn't true but if we exclude a group of riders on the grounds that they choose a certain type of motorised bike doesn't that make us just as bad as the person who believes all people on two wheels are idiots? |

You can find that type in any town just about anywhere. Sure there are some dispatch riders that ride like twats. but that pales into insignificance
compared to the hoards of scooter riders behaving just as illustrated.
Go down to your local shopping mall and tell me you cant find em.
