So I was right about it spending 90% of its life being repaired? _________________ You start the game of life with a full pot o' luck and an empty pot o' experience. The objective is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck.

BMW dealers sell a puncture repair kit which is pretty good. I had the same thing happen to a new tyre once, plugged it and the plug lasted for the duration of the tyre. They only guarantee the plug for something like 100-200 miles at 40mph though. Other option is an internal plug done by a tyre fitting co. Depends how close to the edge of the tyre the puncture is. _________________ You start the game of life with a full pot o' luck and an empty pot o' experience. I use one of those Rep+Air kits off Ebay, fixed loads of tyres using it and never had a problem, even at silly speed! |

Beginning to wish I'd not started pulling the Pan apart
A large part of yesterday taken up and it's only just getting to the finger squashing hernia giving (engine out) stage. Added to that, the ends of the collector on the exhaust turned to brown dust
Now I'm at this stage I can't even ride it somewhere to burn it without putting it back together . Going to replace throttle cables as they are a PITA to get to without the carbs in, more expense... then where do you draw the line? Should I be putting new carb diafragms in? Bollocks, I'll shut the garage and go make some sparks on roundabouts _________________

Seeing as I work in tech support I should just listen to my own (usually time-wasting fob off) solution - "restart your pc, then call me back if it's not fixed". This is the point that I set a timer running and approximately 3 minutes later set my phone to divert to someone else _________________

I'm confused as to why you would want to change the throttle cables and diaphragms.....if they're not giving problems, leave 'em alone.
Ah yes - rotten exhaust. Been there done that. Be aware that alternative makes DO NOT fit the standard pipes and/or collectors..... DAMHIKT
If you need any help and advice about engine out/in, gizza bell. There are a few traps for the unwary - again DAMHIKT |

IIRC, you were quite the little stress bunny, rebuilding the engine on your Pan just in time for the last French Tickler trip... You learnt all the traps for the unwary the hard way, didn't ya? _________________ "Take advantage of her being in a wheelchair while you can, mate - 'cos that's the only time you'll be able to push her around!" -Barry H |
