i no nothing about bikes but im assuming its something to do with the neutral sensor and side stand,
no light comes on when in neutral just sort of flickers at times, and if you put the side stand down in neutral the engine cuts out, can only start it with clutch held in also,
didint help on my first ride out on the bike,
so still rideable just a pain in the arse! need to get it sorted, |

quite a few bikes and some cars can only be started with clutch engaged, not a bad habit to get into anyhows, just a pain wont run whilst on side stand but as you say does not effect the riding of it _________________

I can understand if you attempt to pull away in gear with the side stand down the engine cuts out but my honda certainly sits there on the side stand ticking over happily in Neutral, and neutral lights certianly shouldn't "flicker" the bike is either in gear or it isn't, sounds like wiring issues to me. _________________ "Deja Moo" the feeling you have heard this Bullshit before |

there is def a prob with it, i have to sit on it whilst it warms up as when its in neutral, if the side stand is down it will cut out, and it IS in neutral,
maybe they have over lubed it somewhere i really have no idea, i just no it shouldent do that! |

Neutral switch, definitley. You do not have to pull the clutch in to start the CBR unless it thinks it's in gear, also if it thinks it's in gear it will not start with the side stand down.
It sounds to me like the wire on the neutral switch is loose, from memory on the CBARGGGGHHH they are to the left hand side of the rear of the engine on top of the "gearbox" portion and have a crosshead/phillips screw and ring terminal. I may be wrong, will a manual link to help you locate it. _________________

Beg to differ..
Take back to dealer and tell them to sort it out!!!! They don't do very good "pre sale checks" that's for sure! _________________ "Deja Moo" the feeling you have heard this Bullshit before |

Beg to differ on what? My diagnosis?? Better to be armed with all the facts when you ring up the dealer... "oi the neutral switch isn't working" etc rather than not having a clue...
If it were mine and the dealer was mile's away, I'd sooner tighten the screw myself than burn loads of petrol going there for them to do it. I'd still have a grumble, obviously _________________

Wouldn't expect to be poncing about on a bike with an immediate fault from a stealer, if the faults that obvious there is no need to be armed, sling it back at them. _________________ "Deja Moo" the feeling you have heard this Bullshit before |

Unlikely. Check the plug on termination to the neutral switch are tight and clean. Failing that, A new neutral switch may be needed.

Why did microsoft call their search engine "Bing". "Mong" would be more appropriate _________________

aye...
You sorted your neutral switch yet?
I know it's "not the point" but I may have one kicking about if it's the switch that's faulty... _________________

WPMOT. The petition against town centre parking charges was not supported by the council, inspite of 26,303 people objecting to this...

Still they got nearly as many signatures as the bike parking petition and look how far that got _________________ Anything you say may be taken down and used as evidence in a court of law, or boxhill forum!!
