to put the rear pegs on, I have to remove the upper seat unit to get to the bolts that hold the hangers on.....

LOL keep going mate.....
I mean look at the work you have already done on your 6 with the tail number boards etc, very nice, would be nice to keep that etc and a seat cowl would be much cheaper as you wouldnt need to buy a number plate hanger as well and have it painted etc....
