No,No,No,............you don't want to do it like that.
get the soldering iron out and just cut the tread a bit deeper.
mate of mine done this a long time ago on his Avon Roadrunners.  |

Have only done a little Karate in the past, but would love to take up a martial art again. Fantastic way to tone up and really focuses the mind.
