Just been reading up on these two models:
R1 - just about the best sewing machine on the market. Able to sew an incredible 33cm per inch, and with it's adjustable slipper foot it can put as many as 12 stitches in per cm. The motor is so smooth and quiet and vibration free that riders, I mean operators, have been known to fall asleep whilst operating it. Mrs Jones from Gwynedd said "The R1 is so simple to use that even a 4 year old could operate it".

R6 - same as the R1 but lighter and more cloth manouverability. May not have the outright speed of the R1 but can outperform it where tricky stitch work is required.

Visually these two models are identically and the only way to tell them apart is by the model stickers.

What Sewing Machine? recently voted the R1 as *best ladies machine* for 2004.

Thanks Athos - I use Gnucleus - it's the same P2P thing as Limewire, etc.

I only use iTunes for stuff I really want but can't find elsewhere.
